2013 American Airgunner Contestant—Chris Martin
I am a 29 year old journeyman electrician from Gillette Wyoming (born and raised). I was originally trained by the ARMY to shoot rifles in the Infantry. All of my air rifle knowledge and shooting prowess are all self-tought. I have always found shooting air rifles much more satisfying than shooting firearms. This is because of the noise (need for hearing protection), the cleaning (need to clean firearms after shooting), the cost of ammunition, and having to go to ranges to shoot legally. I enjoy the fact that air rifles can be super cheap to shoot and to own, need almost no cleaning, are quiet, and you can in most areas shoot in your back yard. Now this doesn’t mean I hate firearms—I personally own many different powder burners and do shoot both air rifles and firearms every weekend (weather pending of course).
I had no idea that by just shooting airguns and building a good working knowledge base that it would give me an opportunity to be on TV for it. My time on American Airgunner and with the other competitors was one for the books. This experience was one I will never forget. I had the time of my life getting to shoot so may different types of air guns and targets. Also getting to meet the film crew and producers was awesome. The people in Arkansas where we filmed the challenged showed me what hospitality really means.
